glass, platters, bowls

Biography

I have been captivated by glass for as long as I can remember, and I have been working with glass for a few years now. I first started with stained glass but found that the design and reflective qualities in warm glass was more gratifying. I am drawn by the soft, graceful lines and flowing shapes that are the result of applying heat to flat glass. The diversity of work results from experimentation with different techniques and manipulating the dynamic properties of glass. Inspiration flows from many sources such as colorful fabrics and the wonders of nature around me. Currently I produce platters, bowls, plates and small panels in fused glass. Essentially self-taught, by trial and error, books and online resources; I also seek out learning experiences at seminars and workshops. I have shown my work at various local festivals and studio tours. Here are just a few of my platters and bowls. I have been commissioned to do custom work as well. A few of these items can be duplicated somewhat but due to variations in glass; they may not be exactly as pictured.
